Saturday Song Selection for that Special Valentine

February 13, 2016 By Ron Dawson Leave a Comment

Every week the staff of Dare Dreamer FM picks five Creative Commons songs to help jumpstart your inspiration. In honor of Valentine’s Day, this week’s theme is “twu wuv.”

It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow and love is in the air. So it makes sense to have love-themed song picks this week. Today I’m going to do something special and “score” a quirky indie rom-com. Let’s begin.

“Lovers Rock” by TV Girl (CC BY-NC) may not be what you had in mind when you thought “love” theme. But this would make a great music bed for a montage scene in our quirky “boy meets girl” film.

Let’s say our hero is trying to get up the never to ask the girl out. “Love is Chemical” by Steve Combs (CC BY) could be the song you play while he paces back and forth working up the courage to pick up the phone.

I think this make-believe movie I’m writing here is rather dark. But I kinda like it. Let’s go against the mold. “I Want to Destroy Something Beautiful” by Josh Woodward (CC BY) will be the song you’ll play during the scene when they guy does something stupid that sends his beautiful relationship spiraling down an abyss of despair and desperation.

“Heartbreakers” by Anitek (CC BY-NC-SA) continues the unconventional theme. This would be perfect for the heartbreak montage in the aforementioned indie film.

You just know I had to tap David Mumford for a love theme post. I think “Be Back Soon” (CC BY) would make the perfect song to play during the credit roll at the end. The title suggests that maybe the boy and girl don’t end up together at the end of the film. But there is hope. Or maybe they do end up together, but he has to go off on a job or the army or something. (I’m brainstorming here. Work with me.)
