March 26, 2016 By Ron Dawson Leave a Comment

Every week we pick 5 Creative Commons songs to get your creative juices flowing. This week Tarantino is the theme.

This week we uploaded our longest regular Radio Film School episode to date, Quentin Tarantino  Vol. 1 – The AUTEUR. Check it out. Over an hour of film-geek discussion about the patron saint of rebel filmmakers everywhere. We all know that music is a hallmark of any Tarantino film. So our music picks this week are the five most Tarantino-esque songs we could find.

A Man with a Golden Soul by Cullah (CC BY-SA): Let me just say off the bat, there will be quite a few songs from Cullah in this collection. His hard-hitting, edgy and eclectic musical talents have a very Tarantino vibe. When I was first preparing to launch Radio Film School and looking for Tarantino-esque songs, this one was the first song I found that fit that feeling. I’ve used it a couple of times in the show.

Wander and Ramble by Cullah (CC BY-SA): Another song off Cullah’s “Cullahnary School” album, this “little ditty” has “Reservoir Doginess” written all over it.

Western Firefight 2 by Cullah (CC BY-SA): Given the title, you might think I picked this because the last two Tarantino films were westerns. But the whistling in this piece reminded me more of “Kill Bill” believe it or not.

My Dignity by Cullah (CC BY-SA): The somber guitar and the theme of this song reminded me of “Pulp Fiction.”

Spaghetti Western by Stick Figure (CC-BY): Admittedly, the song itself doesn’t necessarily remind you of a Tarantino movie. But c’mon, I can’t ignore over a song called “Spaghetti Western.”
